To Descend or not to descend?

Here are my latest attempts of some stairs.
These first two are pictures of the proposed stairs leading down to the gallery from Ai Weiwei's studio: Definitely not finished at the moment but i think it has potential! Just experimenting with textures currently to get an idea of what I like and what I don't.

This next staircase is leading from the gallery down into Louise's studio. I had some of her more organic works in mind when i created these stairs (See below - Destruction of the Father). The coloring is definitely temporary, just using it for better perception of depth etc - it's Saint Patrick's day today so that's why I chose green.

A progression of Ideas

Here is a much more developed version of Ai Weiwei's studio. Including staircases and the steps towards the gallery itself! It's getting there and I think I'm getting a better understanding of Spatial awareness and how i can go about that to create the studios to maximise this.

The Studios! Take 2

Meddle/Josephine
Louise Bourgeois's studio remodeled:
As i mentioned in the earlier post for this studio I have tried to have the staircase as a central part of the building and not just as a method of transportation. In the lecture there were some examples of spiral staircases but none I really felt that encompassed a double helix structure. The rooms and base were designed with Louise's style of artwork in mind - The common themes seen throughout her work are loneliness, anxiety, jealousy and sexual tension. For my studio I focused more on Loneliness and anxiety and tried to accentuate this using long tunnels with small empty circular rooms. I hope also to emphasize this with my choice of surrounding landscape.

The Studios! take 1.

Meddle/Josephine
This is the first of the two concept drawings i chose from my original 18 to use as a basis for the my proposed studios. My first sketchup attempt at these is shown below. I think my concept for the top studio is solid, but still needs more detail and maybe a little more structure - This I hope to achieve with the addition of my stairs. After discussing with Shaowen I have decided to remodel my bottom section completely because as it stands now, I think it is to conceptual and the functionality is lacking in quite. I am going to try and use the stairs in this studio as the destination and not so much as a way of getting from A to B.

Reach/Meddle

The second concept sketch i created was from this sketch. The model is pictured below. Although I'm happy with the curves on the top half I think as a potential studio it is lacking, as the studio itself is a simple plane which again limits the options of descent to the gallery. The bottom half for me provides an idea i would like to keep working on structurally, Having a big main column with smaller rooms leading from it.
