I took this photo on one of my many plane flights home from Sydney to Byron Bay. The weather was amazing above the clouds but as soon as we descended below them it began flooding for two weeks.

Petra
This is the monastery from the ancient Jordanian city of Petra. al-Deir as it's known is huge, this face standing 50m tall and 45m wide. Petra is known worldwide for its rock-cut-architecture and the monastery, being carved out of a solid hillside is a fine example.

I composed this drawing from two quite different photographs of the subject, incorporating and combining key elements from both to create a surreal yet familiar image. Done mainly with Sharpie and a little pencil work.
